Ok so I believe we all have the right to speak our opinions and we all have a right to do that whenever we want. The whole freedom of speech concept is not lost on me...but...yes isn't there always a but...when you are speaking against something due to ignorance I think we should ducktape your mouth shut.
Last night at CNU there was a Take Back the Night rally and march.
A quote from the Daily Press...
"Nearly 200 people gather at Christopher Newport University to raise awareness of sexual assault and to show support for victims."
So when I read that I do not hear anything about all men being bad...evil...rapists...etc...however one lone man protested this rally/march saying...
Along with nearly 200 supporters, the event also drew one protester: 38-year-old Winston Smith. The Newport News computer programmer stood along the fringe of the crowd Tuesday evening, quietly clutching a banana and a cardboard sign that read, in part, "Stop Feminist Hate." He said he felt compelled to protest the rally because it displayed an "anti-male" theme and to demonstrate that "I am not a rapist because I am a male."
Nothing about the Take Back the Night March says if you are male you are a rapist...it is to support victims of sexual assault. The idea of Take Back the Night is to educate and support so that sexual assalt is less likely to happen. And the march encourages women to be aware of themselves, those around them, and their surroundings. So that maybe some day we won't have the rising rate of sexual assault. In other words not all men are rapists nor do we preach that with take back the night. So before you protest something. Make sure you get all the facts....For more information about Take Back the Night check out this
